How To Reach Us

Our Elders

Andy Overly, Co-Pastor

Family information: Hi, my name is Andy Overly, and I am married to Carla, We have 5 children, all boys: Benjamin, Josiah, Isaac, Samuel & Caleb.

Reason/Call for serving as an elder/deacon: I joined the church-planting team here at Tri-County Bible Church during the Summer of 1994. As things began to grow, I was asked to assume the role of youth pastor. In 1997 when Henry Vosburgh (the original church planter pastor) went back into full-time church planting, I filled in as the interim pastor until another pastor was called in 1998. In 2001 my family and I went to join another church-planting team in Northampton, England. In 2004, I was called to come back as pastor at TCBC. I now serve as Co-pastor, and we have a part time youth pastor, a Technology Assistant, and Pastoral Assistant on staff as well.

Life’s verse: Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present  help in trouble."

Jim West, Co-Pastor

Family information: Hi, my name is Jim West, and I am married to Lora. We have 2 children: Jessi is 20 and a sophomore at IUPUI and Jake is 18 and a senior at Rensselaer Central.

Ministries @ TCBC you serve in:
Pastor Andy and I truly function as co-pastors. We share the pulpit responsibilities, and my other main responsibilities include Men of Valor men’s ministry, discipleship and leadership training. As Pastors, we are involved in much of what takes place at TCBC, and we are thankful for those who serve faithfully in ministry as we desire to fulfill the teachings of Ephesians 4 in all of our members using the gifts the Lord has given them for His glory and the edification of the local body of believers.

Reason/Call for serving as an elder/deacon:
I have served in vocational ministry for 20 years now, and was serving as a pastor in Raleigh, NC before we came to TCBC 5 and ½ years ago. The Lord confirmed that His desire was for our family to move to Rensselaer and serve in the ministries of TCBC, and among the greatest strengths of this church that assured our hearts of the move were and still are the resolve to get the truth correct as revealed in Holy Scripture, and the genuine hearts of the men in leadership to be humble and sanctified servants.

Life’s verse:
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”

Phil Conrad, Youth Leader

Dan Hickman, Elder

Family information: Hi, my name is Dan Hickman and I am married to Alicia Hickman and have 3 children, Amanda age 17, Cole age 15, and Jonathon age 13.

Ministries @ TCBC you serve in: I currently serve as an Elder at TCBC. I also teach Jr. High Sunday school and serve on the men’s usher ministry team.

Reason/Call for serving as an elder/deacon: I love serving as an Elder. I have a strong call to teach God’s word and the men I serve with are true friends that hold me accountable and teach me daily through the way they live their lives. They are my cloud of witnesses.

Life’s verse:
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Mark Legler, Elder

Family information: My name is Mark Legler. I am married to Chris, and we have 3 children. The oldest is Tori, who is 22 years old and in her 4th year of studies at IUPUI. Noah is 20 years old and in his 2nd year at IUPUI. Elijah is 15 years old and he is a freshman at Tri County High School.

Full time Vocation: I own and operate a snack and soda vending company.

Ministries @ TCBC you serve in: I serve at chairman of the elders as well as teaching in the International Harvesters Adult Bible Study.

Reason/Call for serving as an elder/deacon: The reason I felt called to become an elder is that I have long felt that God has gifted me in the area of teaching. I had been using that gift in the church for years, and felt that God wanted me to expand and serve in some oversight responsibilities.

Life’s verse: The verse that describes this best I believe is II Timothy 2:2: "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

Just a few words about why we are members and love Tri County Bible Church. The Pastors and Elders are committed to preaching and teaching the Bible as it is presented. Whatever the Bible says, that is what is taught. The people are hungry to hear the Word, and committed to try to apply it. The people are desiring to grow in their faith and understanding of God, His Word, and His desire for them. This is evidenced by the many men and women who are discipling other men and women.
